NVision Advances EuroHPC QOSMOS Project for Photonic-Interfaced Spin Qubits
NVision Quantum Technologies has received €293,455 in Phase 1 funding from the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking for its QOSMOS project, aimed at developing a Photonic-Interfaced Quantum Computer (PIQC) architecture. This funding will support the creation of a roadmap for scaling their spin-qubit technology, which uses photonic integrated circuits to overcome scaling limitations. Successful completion of Phase 1 could lead to up to €30 million in EIB venture debt financing for manufacturing facilities.

German spin-qubit hardware developer NVision Quantum Technologies has been selected by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) under its Quantum Grand Challenge initiative (Decision No. 31/2026) to advance project QOSMOS (Quantum Computers based on Spin Qubits in Organic Molecules). Reaching its grant preparation phase, the company receives €293,455 in Phase 1 Coordination and Support Action (CSA) funding to construct a technical, commercial, and financial roadmap for scaling its Photonic-Interfaced Quantum Computer (PIQC) architecture toward fault-tolerant processing platforms.
The PIQC platform pairs organic molecular spin-qubit processing units with photonic integrated circuits (PICs) to resolve the physical scaling limitations of nearest-neighbor quantum architectures. By embedding optical channels directly into the chip layout at inception, the architecture replaces short-range magnetic or capacitive coupling with all-to-all photonic interconnections. This integrated approach allows modular QPU tiles to communicate optically across chip boundaries, establishing an architecture compatible with standard semiconductor and photonic foundry fabrication nodes.
Under the four-month QOSMOS project, NVision will establish benchmarking metrics, define hardware-software integration milestones, and map out initial target workloads centered on quantum simulations for chemistry and pharmaceutical research. Successful completion of Phase 1 technical and business criteria allows NVision to qualify for Phase 2, opening access to up to €30 million in individual European Investment Bank (EIB) venture debt financing drawn from a dedicated €100 million InvestEU allocation pool to build out volume QPU manufacturing facilities across Europe.
