Quantinuum and Oracle Partner to Bring Helios Quantum Computer to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Trapped-ion quantum hardware developer Quantinuum (NASDAQ: QNT) and Oracle Corporation (NYSE: ORCL) have announced a multi-year strategic partnership to deploy Quantinuum's 98-qubit Helios processor directly inside a U.S.-based Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) AI data center. The collaboration will make Helios available as a managed OCI quantum service, integrating trapped-ion quantum processing units (QPUs) alongside OCI’s high-performance computing (HPC) and NVIDIA GPU clusters to accelerate hybrid quantum-AI enterprise workloads.

The collaboration focuses on enabling enterprise, research laboratory, and academic workloads across drug discovery, materials science, financial modeling, and large-scale optimization:
Helios Hardware Performance: Quantinuum’s third-generation trapped-ion system utilizes a Quantum Charge-Coupled Device (QCCD) architecture with barium (137Ba+) hyperfine qubits, delivering all-to-all connectivity, 99.921% average two-qubit gate fidelity, and demonstrations running up to 48 logical qubits.
Energy-Efficient Hybrid Compute: Operating at an estimated power draw of approximately 60 kW (excluding external HVAC), Helios uses less than one percent of the power consumed by leading top-tier supercomputers, offering a low-power complementary QPU resource for hybrid algorithms.
Native Cloud Integration: By co-locating inside OCI data centers, Helios connects directly into OCI’s compute, storage, networking, identity, and security governance frameworks, allowing developers to orchestrate hybrid workflows without specialized hardware installation or local facility management.
Service Preview: Oracle plans to preview the managed OCI quantum service in upcoming months, combining Quantinuum’s development environment with open-source hybrid programming frameworks.
Led by Quantinuum President and CEO Dr. Rajeeb Hazra and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure EVP Mahesh Thiagarajan, the deal represents Quantinuum's first on-premises deployment inside a major hyperscale public cloud provider's AI data center ecosystem.
