SkyWater Launches Dedicated Quantum Solutions Merchant Foundry Division
SkyWater Technology has launched SkyWater Quantum Solutions, a new merchant foundry division focused on process development, chip integration, and manufacturing for quantum computing, networking, and sensing applications. The division offers two standardized process platforms, SC250 for superconducting circuits and SP90 for quantum photonic routing, and has already secured a joint development agreement with Qolab to fabricate its Quantum System-in-Package (QSiP) hardware.

Pure-play semiconductor foundry SkyWater Technology (NASDAQ: SKYT) has launched SkyWater Quantum Solutions, a merchant foundry business unit dedicated to process development, chip integration, and commercial manufacturing for quantum computing, networking, and sensing applications. Operating under a Technology-as-a-Service model, the division targets bridging the gap between R&D lab prototypes and scalable volume manufacturing across superconducting, photonic, and hybrid hardware platforms.
The initial technology stack introduces two standardized process platforms: the SC250 platform, designed for high-density superconducting circuits, cryogenic interconnects, and control logic; and the SP90 platform, utilizing low-loss silicon nitride (Si3N4) for quantum photonic routing. The offerings integrate with heterogenous packaging capabilities derived from IonQ's acquisition of Nexus Photonics, enabling on-chip integration of III-V active components (lasers, modulators, photodetectors) along with quantum materials such as diamond color centers and lithium niobate (LiNbO3).
Demonstrating commercial customer traction at launch, SkyWater entered into a joint development agreement with Qolab to fabricate its Quantum System-in-Package (QSiP) hardware. Utilizing the SC250 process line, the program integrates cryogenic control components into compact, wafer-scale packages to reduce form-factor and cabling complexity in superconducting processors. Operating as a pure-play merchant foundry, SkyWater manages customer IP under strict program firewalling protocols while supporting commercial partners alongside its anchor hardware collaborator, IonQ.
