Qubitrium Secures €2.25M in Seed-Plus Funding to Scale Space-Based Quantum Hardware

Turkish deep-tech startup Qubitrium has secured €2.25 million ($2.6 million USD) in a Seed-plus funding round led by the Türkiye Development Fund (€1.25 million) ($1.46 million USD) and ACT Venture Partners (€1 million) ($1.14 million USD). Founded in 2020 as a spin-off from QuTech and Özyeğin University, the company specializes in space-ready quantum hardware, including entangled photon sources, single-photon detectors, and quantum memories. The new capital is earmarked for the expansion of Qubitrium’s technical infrastructure and the acceleration of its go-to-market strategy for its miniaturized, CubeSat-compatible quantum modules.
The funding follows the company's announcement regarding the successful orbital deployment and validation of its quantum payload. This mission serves as a validation phase for the development of space-based quantum communication infrastructure. By providing an ecosystem of hardware—including the QubitCore payload and the QubTag time tagger—Qubitrium aims to enable secure Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and sensing capabilities for the aerospace and defense sectors.
